About:
About Us Alessio Casati and Andrea Bagnasco have been guitar partners since 1995. Our venture started out of necessity: we both were college students and the money we had to spend couldn't buy us enough guitar to suit our tastes. So we bought ourselves a copy of the Cumpiano & Natelson book instead, a few hand tools, two sets of wood and ventured in our first acoustic guitar build project. It took nearly one year and a lot of research (there was no internet, no email back then), questions, phone calls, reading, more reading, trial and error, more trial and more error, but we finally succeded in building our first pair of guitars. They did sound and play pretty good, and in fact they're still sounding and playing pretty good. So that told us we could as well keep on going. To make a long story short, we are still around today, back to us two, back to plain lutherie after our years-long tenure in Dino's Guitars. Dino's Guitars has been an exciting project which has seen us setup a small business for the manufacture and sale of electric guitars, guitar cabs and guitar effect pedals (all of proprietary, original design), in conjuction with a local social co-op, aimed at the employment of disabled people, convicts on probation, people with addiction problems. Please download and have a look at the literature linked below: all articles on domestic and international magazines about our Dino's products. Unfortunately quality isn't always bringing success in business, especially in full recession years as have been 2007/08/09. Which caused the social co-op to decide to quit the Dino's Guitars business, leaving us two with the decision of either taking Dino's completely upon ourselves, or turning everything around and simply starting to offer what the market has been asking us for years: expert, top quality restoration and repair services for guitars (acoustic and electrics) and stringed instruments in general. Out of our years-long experience in the business and acquaintance and years long knowledge, research and practice on American vintage guitars, we offer our repair services to all Italian and European customers that up until yesterday had very little choice for servicing their prized instruments, other than a very few, very busy European craftsmen, or having to deal with shipping overseas to the US, with all related risks, costs and hassle. We bring the materials and techniques of the great American guitarmaking tradition to our workbench, on the seafront of the Ligurian Gulph. Restoration and Repair We offer to our customers a highly skilled service of restoration and repair of acoustic and electric guitars, vintage or new. We are true, die-hard fans of the great vintage guitars of the American guitarmaking tradition. That is, the acoustic guitars from the major manufacturers dating back to the pre-war and war time eras, as well as the electric guitars of the '50s and '60s. Those that have defined the way the modern guitars are supposed to sound and play. Our research and study of the oldies has helped us understand the funding principles of lutherie applied with great success: what works, why it works, what doesn't work and why. A great sounding and playing guitar is the sum of many individual elements coming together nicely: design, materials, craftmanship, techniques. All all which require deep knowledge: not only limited to the guitar per se. The historic and social contest where the instruments were made also played a major role in the manufacturing decisions that were taken, and the understanding of such things is important in order to be able to take on all the necessary lessons and bring them on the workbench today.
