Come On Pops, Let's Go To The Guitar Show.
When I was a kid, maybe 11 or 12 years old my dad would always take me to vintage guitar shows here in Seattle. I tell ya, being a young kid and seeing hundreds and hundreds of guitars and tons of people buying, trading, selling, and admiring instruments was quite the experience. At some of these shows it often looked like a scene from wall street. You could literally feel the excitement in the room. Things were happening so fast a guitar could be gone, sold, and re-sold in the blink of an eye.
Later on when I got my start in vintage and used guitars I worked at a shop here in Seattle that had a booth at the guitar show every year. It was always a blast and you literally never knew what you were going to see. Whether it be another dealer with a table filled with 50s Strats or an elderly couple walking around with a cool brown Gibson Cali-Girl case looking for top dollar for their instrument from Gibson’s golden era. The shows were always a ton of work, but always a lot of fun.
2012 being Thunder Road Guitar’s first year in business it is also our first year as a dealer at the Seattle Guitar Show and I couldn’t be more excited. To have grown up going to these, and working many of them at another store, and now having a booth for my own store is really a cool thing for me and the crew. I couldn’t be happier and I’m quite excited for the show this Sunday. Hope to see ya there!
