Music Store Live is proud to present this 2008 Eastman El Rey 2! This is a Jazz Rock guitar if we've ever seen one. From it's inception, you can tell it is coming from a different school of design which is nice. With a few aftermarket tweaks, this El Rey 2 has turned itself into a brilliantly unique beast of the earth. It plays like a fine modern day jazz box with a terrific neck feel and the kind of top end only a high end archtop can deliver. However, plugged in and cranked up, this guitar reveals itself to not be so polite. This El Rey 2 turns into a snarling dog of jazz rock fusion the likes of which Allan Holdsworth would have to bow to. This is truly a one of a kind axe at this point and it sure to make the perfect fit for the player with a jazz background who is looking to break into new sonic territory.
Item Details
This El Rey 2 was manufactured in 2008. It features a hollowbody design with a classic finish, carved spruce top, maple body, maple neck, single cutaway, ebony fretboard, mother of pearl offset inlays and a 25 2/5" scale length. Some replacement parts include a rosewood compensated bridge, "cube" engraved truss rod cover, locking Grover tuners and ... wait for it ... a set of extremely warm yet rocking humbuckers from a Gibson Slash Signature Les Paul. These pups are Seymour Duncan Alnico II that help give this axe an extra edge without ever sounding brittle or too bright. Maybe a bit surprising to some, these pups pump out a deep clarity that works quite well for traditional jazz playing but also can carry enough beef to turn your leads into rock and roll perfection.
Other features include gold hardware, ebony tailpiece, master tone and volume for each pickup and a three way selector switch. It comes with a fitted Eastman hard shell case.
Overall Condition
This Eastman El Rey 2 is in very good plus condition. It plays and sounds excellent. The body shows some light dings and finish scratches - the typical wear of a guitar that has played a moderate amount of gigs. Structurally, this guitar is totally solid. The neck joint is excellent as is the headstock and frets. This is a turn-key fusion machine that can open the doors for your playing in a way other guitars simply cannot. A very unique twist on an already unique guitar, this will be like playing a perfectly customized guitar for the right player.
