A Knutsen / HW21 / 1914 / Guitar For Sale
Year: 1914 (Circa)
Manufacturer: A Knutsen
Model: HW21
Case: Hard
Color: Natural Koa
Condition: Excellent
Description: Luthier Chris Knutsen originally from Tacoma Washington and later L.A. was known for his Harp Guitars and Lap Hawaiians and his involvement with eventual competitor Hermann Weissenborn. Unlike Weissenborn however, Knutsen rarely, if ever made the same instrument the same way twice. Each is ornamented in it\'s own way though many common themes are prevalent and workmanship shows many trademarks making his instruments fairly easy to spot for the "acclamated." This instrument is new to me but has been around the circles of guys who know these ... a few times ... this one being on display at www.HarpGuitars.net (Gregg Miner) and lists it\'s owner at the time to be Billy Asher of Asher Guitars and the guy who makes Ben Harper\'s solid body lap Hawaiins. Though not for sale ... it along with my Weissenborns are here for both display and to alert those having such instruments for sale or are looking , that I am a "hub" for Lap Hawaiin activity. So keep your eyes set to revisit my site from time to time as I will have these types of instrumentas for sale many times ...more often than not. This Knutsen is constructed of a Koa wood top BUT unusual Cuban Mahogany sides and back said to be one of the best tone producers .. as David Lindley has said. It would seem he is correct because this rope bound monster is probably the loudest toniest Hawaiian in my posession or that I have ever owned. See "more images" for highlighted close ups of the flamed wood.

Returns: All parties buying through the mail or offsite are allowed a 24 hour approval/inspection period on ALL guitars, unless discussed otherwise, to make sure they are keeping their purchase (but not amps to keep shipping delicate amps back and forth to a minimum and not on parts either ... too many guys doing "switcharoo's" or wrecking them trying to install them and then trying to send them back ... sorry ... you have to reap the behavior of so many others). Buyer pays shipping. Payments must be received within 5 working days of anything placed on HOLD. When you receive the guitar your 24 hour return includes 1 day to receive it and approve or not and you must contact me. I do strictly adhere to these rules. I don't mean to sound tough here but you would be amazed at the liberties taken in recent past! Thanks for your understanding and adherence. ALL Outside the USA sales are final due to extended "visits" through customs and some countries laxed attitude about shipping on time.
