The distinctive-looking Roxy cuts an original dash, helped by allusions to oddball vintage brands.
Despite a pretty meaty body, the internal airspace keeps weight down to a well-balanced 3.6kg (7.94Lbs), while some chanfering at the neck join aids upper fret fingering.
The P77 provides power, plummy depth and snaky treble in equal quantities. The humbucker maintains the same output but adds plenty of edge backed up by a midrange bark. Combining both produces an effective blend of a heavy-toned, punchy low end and honky highs, a bit like a Gretsch on steroids.
Up the gain and you get everything from bluesy grunt and grit to brash, gnarly thrash. The smoothly progressive volume pots come in useful for cleaning-up.
The Roxy DL4 has an ebony fingerboard to bring a bright, crisp and clear attack and a well-defined low end.
