The Paragon '59 is the newest model to come out of the DGN Shop. This guitar is inspired by the 59 Burst and has all of the details that make that guitar unique.
This particular version of the Paragon '59 was an experiment with tone woods. I had some killer pieces of wood kicking around the shop and decided to put them into this build.
First off, the Top Carve, internal routings, Neck Joint, neck profile and scale are all exact to a Burst. That is where the similarities end. The Top on this guitar is Highly figured Old Growth Redwood. The Body is made from a Single Piece of Spanish Cedar that has a bit of figuring to it. The neck is also made from Spanish Cedar and is one piece with the standard glued on ears at the headstock. The truss rod is a standard vintage style single action rod. The fingerboard on this guitar is Honduran Rosewood and features Celluloid Trap inlays. Tonally Honduran Rosewood is similar to Brazilian. This guitar also features High End PEC pots and Luxe Bumble Bee caps.
The sound of this guitar is nothing short of amazing. Besides the high end electronics, it also features a set of DGN True PAF pickups, modeled after a 1959 ES 355 that came through my shop last year. These pickups are matched to some of the best PAF I have ever heard. The Redwood top gives the high end on this guitar a different character. It has a fuller, Sweeter High End and the overall tone of the guitar is fatter than the average burst replica. The tone is in Les Paul Custom territory, just a huge fat Tone.
