Music Store Live is proud to present this 1979 Fender 25th Anniversary Stratocaster! Well here's something you don't see every day. She still plays real nice and we've helped out a bit with setting her up for the next lucky player or collector. The tone is full and bright as you may expect and wonderful for many styles of music but let's be honest, you're looking at this because it's a rare bird in it's original color. Read on ...
The Fender 25th Anniversary Stratocaster was Fender's way of acknowledging the Strat's past and looking towards the future with a special limited production guitar. They made 10,000 of these killers though only the first 500 or so were released in the Pearl White finish you see before you. The finish was recalled because of almost immediate issues with it ( hence the odd checking to the finish you see here ). Those that came back in for the recall and those that were made after the change were issued in a Porsche-like Silver finish. This guitar never went back for the refinishing thus making it one of the rarest of the rare. The serial number is on the low side ( 250660 ) where "25" deliniates the 25th Anniversary status and the remaining numbers leave room for the 9,999 other guitars that were produced. This being made during the CBS era, the numbers aren't all exactly concurrent though this one is certainly within the lower numbers at about number 660.
Some standout features on this guitar include the special Anniversary four bolt serialized neck plate, the lack of a Bullet style truss rod, "Anniversary" text on the body and Sperzel / Fender tuners.
This beauty is all original with the exception of the nut, repro strap buttons and the non original Fender hard shell case. The pickups are original though two of them have been rewound by Klein pickups. Most of the solder joints have been touched up.
Included with this guitar is a framed copy of Fender's "Certificate of Merit" with it's date and serial number.
