Player's Perspective
Music Store Live is proud to present this 1962 Fender Jaguar! This vintage Jag plays very well and is putting out the sweet vintage tone you can only get from a guitar that has put in decades of service. The body and neck have been played and worn in to vintage perfection. The pickups are still screaming and the short scale length is a delightful stray from the norm to play on. There is a slight buzz here and there that most of us would expect from a guitar this age. It's set up well right now with lower action and the neck is straight. This axe is a blast to get down on. It's hard to beat a vintage Jaguar.
Item Details
This 1962 first year Sunburst Jaguar is largely original. The nut and some of the saddle height / intonation screws have been replaced. Also, the pickguard has been uninstalled and replaced with a repro. The original is included in the sale. It shows no cracks but has shrunk and warped slightly over the years. The pickup COVERS have been replaced. The originals are included, though one is cracked. The neck pickup is original and the bridge pickup is original though it has been rewound by Lindy Fralin ( and yes, it sounds wonderful ). So you see there are a few smaller odds and ends that have been replaced but largely this axe remains faithful to the way it was the day it rolled out of the factory.
Some features include the offset alder body, maple neck, C profile, slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard, clay dot inlays, Jazzmaster style tremolo bridge, single coil pickups with notched metal side plates, Jag controls, Kluson Deluxe tuners, string mute and the original hard shell case.
The neck joint dates Mar 62 B.
Pots date : 45th week of '61

Overall Condition
This 1962 Fender Jaguar is in very good condition. It still plays and sounds very well! The body shows some wear from years of service which you should be able to see in our photos. The lower treble side edge bares the brunt of the body wear. There are small dings and some buckle rash on the back. The original frets are in good condition, but if you're looking for optimal performance versus vintage originality you may be interested in replacing them down the road. The hard shell case is still operational and ready for travel though it shows some wear.
This first year Jag will make a terrific addition to any collectors arsenal. It's a lot of fun to play on and puts off more vintage vibe than you can shake a short scale stick at. We think this guitar is a solid investment.
