Music Store Live is proud to present this 1965 Fender Stratocaster! This is a fine playing Strat from '65. It delivers killer Hendrix and SRV tone with total ease. The tone is warm and smooth but not afraid to bite either. This is the way an older Strat should feel. Well played and comfortably worn in - a well oiled machine. The neck gets a blue ribbon for comfort and playability and the set up is damn near perfect. The neck has the proper amount of relief, the action set on the low side and the intonation is very good. This isn't just some killer vintage guitar to hang on the wall ( though it WILL look nice there ). This beast wants you to take it out, feed it drinks and point it towards the stage.
This 1965 Stratocaster is largely original with only a few smaller replacement parts. The frets have been replaced with wide frets. The bone nut is a replacement as is the 5 way switch, strap buttons and saddle height screws ( the saddles themselves are original as is the bridge ). The headstock has been oversprayed to preserve the logo though the rest of the guitar's finish is original. The D shape maple neck's finish has been sanded down. The neck dates 2 JUL 65 B. Note: the rosewood fretboard is particularly dark and rich looking on this guitar.
Everything beyond that is original. The Kluson Deluxe double line tuners, the 3 ply white pickguard, the trem arm, etc. The solder joints on the volume pot have all been touched up. The back plate is missing.
The grey back single coil pickups date to 9/9/65. Their outputs are as follows : Neck, 6.12K - Middle, 5.7K - Bridge, 6.12K.
The pots date to the 14th week of 1965 ( code : 137 6514 )
