Gibson Custom Shop / ES-355 / 1997 / Trans Red / Guitar

When I see one of these guitars, all I can think about is Chuck Berry in "Hail, Hail Rock-n-Roll." With his smoothed back, relaxed hair and of course, strutting that all-to-familiar duck walk on stage reminds me of who the real guitar heros are. All of us (guitar players, that is) have at least one Mr. Chuck Berry in our licks. You can't do a unison bend without paying homage to him. I bet you a dollar to a doughnut you know Johnny B. Good. Don't lie to yourself, you know it and I know it too. It is the right of passage for all of us guitarists. All of us white guitarist have been copping black guitarist licks for years. Let's think about this: Without Chuck, would there be a Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, or Jimmy Page? They influenced Kiss, Kiss influenced Van Halen and so on. All of this came from the Blues and that reminds me of what George Carlin said," White men don't play the blues, they give the blues." I don't mind following in the footsteps of the masters, but the realist in me sees where it comes from. Something in the souls of men lead those select few down that sacred path. Rock was formed through pain and oppression. If not so, why did our forefathers burn records and call it the devil's work? Why did the T.V. network get incensed when Elvis appeared on Ed Sullivan for the first time? I know why: He emitted sex and danger was the spawn of early Rock-n-Roll. This guitar evokes that very spirit. Every time we strap on a guitar we should remember the "why" we do it. If you can remember when you were 16, free and that adrenaline surged through you as you switched off the bypass switch on your Marshall, then you certainly understand where I am coming from. This guitar is cool and can only enhance your "coolness" by owning her. I made my case, now you make the call...
