Gibson Custom Shop / Les Paul R9, 90th Birthday Tribute Model / 2005 / Cherry Sunburst / Guitar
In 2005, Guitar Center commissioned a limited and special run of 25 R9 Reissues to commemorate Les Paul's 90th birthday. It is our understanding that he personally picked out the tops and wood for these guitars, both for their looks and weight. This guitar certainly shows his penchant for quality as the top is nicely flamed, yet subtle and the guitar weighs in at incredible 8 lbs, 5 oz. He also signed the electronics backplate for each guitar. The neck has a perfect medium '59 profile and the guitar's tone is, like everything else about it, exceptional. The original COA was not with the guitar when we acquired it, but the rest of the paperwork and case candy are present. We also have a copy of the email sent from Gibson confirming the guitar's authenticity as part of this 90th Tribute Birthday Run. This guitar is a perfect contender for the collector/ player that wants both performance, looks and collectibility out of their Les Pauls, so please call or email for additional info or photos.
