Music Store Live is proud to present this Gibson 1961 Dot ES-335! From one guitar player to another, this legendary 335 dot lives up to it's name, and plays extremely well. The action is set fairly low, the neck is straight and the guitar plays in tune up and down the neck. First position chords and fretted chords up top all ring out very nicely and in tune. Playing lead on this axe could be likened to winning the lottery ... on your birthday ... with Mila Kunis delivering the check to the front door ... of your new beach house. Get what I'm saying? It's always a treat to find a vintage axe that plays this well and when they're packing the goods inside of them like this one is, it makes for a uniquely ripping experience. The tone is warm and clear and has matured the way only a vintage guitar with years of good playing time can. Listen for yourself.
This 1961 ES-335 is from the last year where this iconic guitar featured dot inlays before changing to blocks the next year. The Cherry red color and finish evoke classic images of rock and roll's yesteryear and strike at the very foundation of what a lot of us guitar player's hold to be sacred.
This is a monster playing ES-335 that features it's original PAF humbucker pickups!!! If you're into humbuckers, you simply cannot beat a set of these Seth Lover designed PAF's. This guitar weighs in at 7.5 pounds on the dot, no pun intended, and comes with its original Lifton hard shell case.
The serial number is # 21393.
Body : The body has been oversprayed. The back has been refinished and shows a few small spot repairs. A Bigsby was previously installed and removed. The original orange label on the inside has been removed.
Neck : The slim 60's profile neck shows some finish wear from playing but no overspray. The Brazilian rosewood fretboard may been lightly leveled a bit when this guitar was refretted. There is some extremely minor pitting in the first position and nothing that interferes with the playability.
