Gibson / ES-335 / 1961 / Guitar

Cherry red ES 335, four digit serial number, all original condition.
This guitar has been 'under the bed' for the last 20 years, and saw very little action before that. It looks like a two year old re-issue; the condition of the guitar is that good. The guitar does NOT have the really thin neck usually associated with dot necks of early sixties vintage; rather a  late 1960 neck. In fact, other than its 4 digit serial number, it feels and looks more like a late 1960 335 rather than a 61.
This guitar has had two owners in its lifetime. The original buyer, and then a collector who has passed on. It has seen very little use, and is in excellent
condition.  I'd give it an easy 9 out of 10 except for the scratch that runs off-center on the back of the neck (see pictures). It has one tuner that is slightly bent , and one tuner button turned brown, but doesn't seem to be falling apart (yet). Interestingly, the other tuners are fine and seem to be the originals...
It feels, plays and sounds the way a dot neck does in your imagination.
With original brown case.

If you love old, classic guitars you owe it to yourself to check this place out. The place is tiny; basically what you see in the display window is most of what they got. Go inside and it's like dropping in to a friend's apartment, albeit a tiny apt. But it's cool; Dan and whoever else is there are just hanging out. If you need help, they're glad to do it but if you just want to hang, they'll give you space. They let me put a lot of time in with the guitar that I eventually bought and also let me play an incredibly expensive guitar just so I could see what it felt like.

But what I really like is that they're just regular, no BS kinda people who obviously love old guitars for their character. Some of what they've got is collector-level expensive but I bought an awesome Japanese tele copy at a really reasonable price. So whatever

We are also home of the Chelsea Hotelecaster - Telecasters made out of civil war era pine from the legendary Chelsea hotel NYC. Made by our resident luthier Dean Gordon.
