Gibson / L Century / 1939 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
1938 Gibson L Century: The full name of this instrument is The Gibson L Century of Progress. Made to honor the Century of Progress exhibition in Chicago in 1933-34. Gibson started with the popular L-00 body size and created this commemorative with curly maple back and sides, x-braced spruce top, triple binding, white pearloid fingerboard and peghead overlay, and fancy wood inlays in the "mother of toilet seat" (pearloid) fret board. The neck has a 1 3/4 nut with the standard Gibson 24 3/4" scale length. The firestripe pickguard, and the small straight bridge complete the appointments. This particular example has come to us with 2 short repaired top cracks and a total refinish in the original sunburst color. Set up with silky smooth action, it sounds much larger than a small body guitar. Perfect for Ragtime and fingerstyle playing. We have been asked to price this one to make players happy. With hard case. $3000 USD Stock#UGC34538
