1957 Gibson Les Paul Custom 'Black Beauty' triple PAF pickup electric guitar with original black alligator Gibson hard case with gold lining, serial number 7 2952. This 57 Custom features its original triple PAF pickups, the covers have never been off. Original tuners, bridge, tailpiece, rings, pickguard, pots, switch, and electronics. You will see on the underside of one of the pickups, a bit of white spray paint - the old guy who owned this LPC decided one day that he wanted a white guitar. So - he grabbed some white spray paint and went to work. THAT'S why this guitar was refinished by Jay Black. Currently wired with the middle position as bridge/middle pickup, out of phase. One knob may be a reissue, the strap buttons may not be the originals. This Black Beauty was professionally refinished years ago by Jay Black, one of the very best in the business - and his refin has now checked lightly and nicely, and the binding has yellowed slightly, as well - looks killer. This 57 has a slender neck - NOT a big ballbat 50s neck - and she's a very reasonable weight, as well, somewhere in the mid 9 pound range. She was refretted as well, with the proper size thinner fretwire - but the frets are nice and tall and substantial, so you can actually PLAY this guitar. Original case needs to have the butt end repaired, as it's somewhat beat from years of use - but a good pro luggage repair shop can do that for you. Will ship in a strong molded hardshell case, can ship the original case separately. This is a wonderful and beautiful player - has that smooth all-mahogany sound that is unmistakable. Though she's had some changes, you can actually take this one out and PLAY HER. This Black Beauty is a personal guitar for one of us here at ibuybursts - but, as the kid is about to start college - this Custom must move on to its next owner. For any fans of the original Outlaws - and Mr. William Harry 'Billy' Jones - this thing has the Jones tone: that full, smooth, unmistakable PAF/solid mahogany combination that made those early records so great.
