Player's Perspective
Music Store Live is proud to present this 1995 Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul Standard! This has to be one of THE BEST Les Paul's we have played at Music Store Live to date. The tone, versatility, feel and look of this guitar, as well as it's association to Jimmy Page, all add up to produce a guitar that is extremely resonant, ripe with perfect tone and feels like the hammer of the gods. Notes ripple through this body the way they should through a top shelf vintage Les Paul. It is capable of easily switching from dark and creamy to rich and woody to brilliantly bright. This LP produces the definitive essence of Rock and Roll. The added versatility of it's electronics make it a contender for the world's greatest go-to guitar for live use, studio recording and sonic exploration. We've taken extra special care to ensure that this Jimmy Page Les Paul is set up perfectly. The neck is straight, the action rides on the low side, there is no buzzing whatsoever, and it plays perfectly in tune up and down the neck.
Item Details
This 1995 Jimmy Page Les Paul Standard is a first year, earlier production model replica of Jimmy's "number 2" Les Paul. It boasts some phenomenal features. The AA grade figured flame maple top finished in delicious light honeyburst joins a cherry mahogany body to lay the foundation for this guitar's excellent tone. The mahogany neck features a slim profile that is extremely fast and comfortable and measures .84" deep behind the 1st fret and .95" behind the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearl trapezoid inlays and 22 frets. A standout feature on this model is obviously the raised cream pickguard baring Jimmy Page's signature. For pickups, this monster is loaded with Gibson 496R and 500T super ceramic humbuckers with 4 leads each. These are brilliantly wired for coil tapping on each pickups' respective volume knob via a push / pull pot. On top of that, the neck tone knob is wired to run the guitar in parallel ( knob down ) or in series ( knob up ). Further still, the bridge tone knob acts as a phase switch that, while the guitar is in series, sets the guitar out of phase with the knob down and in phase with the knob up. Conversely, with the guitar running in parallel, the bridge tone knob down will equal in phase operation and up will produce out of phase tones.
Other fine features include gold Grover tulip style tuners, an ABR-1 tune-o-matic bridge, gold hardware, and a Gibson hard shell case with an emerald green shroud with Jimmy Page's signature.
Overall Condition
This 1995 Gibson Jimmy Page Les Paul Standard is in excellent condition with the exception of two small dings. They are both on the top. The largest is pea sized and located on the lower bout near the edge. The smaller of the two is half the size of a pea, very light, and located on the lower bout, bass side. There are minimal signs of use on the guitar otherwise, only some extremely light pick marks on the guard and faint finish scratches on the back. The frets are in excellent condition revealing just how little playing time this guitar has seen. There is a finish ding on the headstock overlay that is half the size of a pea and very light. This is one of the most amazing Les Paul's we've seen at Music Store Live to date. We can't overstate that. It plays flawlessly, sounds divine and is ready for anything. Ideal for the collector as well as the most demanding player.
