Gibson / Les Paul R8 Plaintop, Murphy- Painted / 1994 / Sunburst / Guitar
It is known that Tom Murphy painted about 200 R9s and approximately 50 R8s before he left Gibson in November of 1994. Judging by the serial number of this guitar, this would be #37 of that 50, making it a rare guitar indeed. To put it into perspective, there are less of these '94 R8s than there are Slash Snakepits and we all know what those guitars command in terms of price and collectability. This particular piece is in absolute collector quality condition and completely original. It hails from a private Florida collection so you can rest assured that it retains all of the fine traits of a true Southern gentleman and is one of the few Les Pauls that should steadily retain it's value as time passes.
