Player's Perspective Music Store Live is proud to present this 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special! This handsome LP Special packs a walloping amount of soul and a neck that was sent from vintage heaven. We're all pretty enamored with this one at MSL. It still plays great and we've taken our time with the setup to dial it in for its next owner. The action is low, the neck is straight and the intonation is very good. It tunes up easy and plays nice in every position. It's fun to think how this student model guitar of yesteryear packed more punch than a lot of so called mid level guitars made these days. This guitar is more than special. Item Details This 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special is finished in TV Yellow. It features a mahogany slab body with single cutaway, a mahogany neck with 50's profile, 2 period correct replacement P-90 pickups with black covers, a bound rosewood fretboard with dot inlays, a 3 layer black pickguard and a "Les Paul Special" gold silk screened headstock logo. It also features the original rubber washer 3 way switch which was only used on this model in 1958. This guitar comes with a newer hard shell case. Replacement parts: The tuners have been replaced with repro Klusons though the original ferrules are still in use and the holes for the tuners have not been tampered with. The bridge and studs have been replaced though the originals are included in the sale. Other replacements parts include the truss rod, frets, pickups ( period correct P-90s ), strap buttons and electronics. Weight : 8.16 pounds. Serial # 8 5365 Overall Condition This 1958 Gibson Les Paul Special is in good to very good condition. It shows the wear of a guitar that has been played and enjoyed very much over the years. It has plenty of aftermarket parts though everything still plays and sounds very good. There is buckle rash on the back that breaches the paint to the wood. There are a fair number of smaller dings to the body top. The finish on the back of the neck is worn from being played and has chipped some small areas of finish. The frets are in very god condition with tons of life left on them. This is a slaying vintage axe. If you're looking for the tone of all mahogany with some killer vintage P-90s than this could be the one for you. The TV Yellow finish is beyond cool.
