Gibson / Les Paul Traditional, 120th Anniversary / 2014 / Ocean Blue / Guitar

I just love the color on this guitar. Yep, I know it doesn't effect the playability or tone, but it does effect our moods. Don't believe me? Well, have you ever wondered why McDonalds signs are red and yellow? There are people out there way smarter than I am (need proof, check my grammar). I suppose some McDonald's executives were sitting around a board room one day and somebody said, "Hey, what color do you guys think would entice a fat baby to eat not one, but three McRibs?" That's when this was uttered, "Hey dudes, I just  read an article in "Psychology Now" magazine and happened upon an interesting story on "The Psychological Properties Of Colors" (and yes, he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express). "Lookit," he continued to say. "We'll do this this up red and yellow. Psychologically, red says energy, basic survival, 'fight or flight', and stimulation, while yellow speaks to our inner dialect. It denotes emotional strength, friendliness, and creativity." He went on to say, "Don't you see the genius in this? Gentleman, our customers will fight yo ass for that McRibb and then have the emotional strength to sit down and enjoy it with a super-sized fry and an orange drank."

You see folks, it's all scientific and thangs: I just gave you the cause and effect of colors (and y'all thought we were only pretty). Now, if you are wondering how blue effects the mind, it is the color of the mind and is essentially soothing; It affects us mentally. Do you remember when Kiss had the color auras on their solo albums? One day they were all black and silver and then, as if overnight, the boys in Kiss had "auras." Well, my boy Ace just had to have blue, or come to think of it, that could had been Paul's idea. Paul probably was thinking, "How can I get Ace's ass onstage sober tonight? I know, let me give him something soothing to remind him that I want to get paid. 'Lead guitarist falls out during first song means no money for me' and that would suck." Hey, Kiss knew oh-to- well that whatever the advantage may be, they would pursue it in the quest for the almighty dollar. Paul knew and now you can too, so if you got a lead guitarist with a lightning bolt painted on his face and a propensity for a bit of cold gin, make the call, because the color of money is still green.
