Here’s a nice playing Melody Maker with the second larger body style, finished in cherry. It’s a great no-frills guitar for straight rhythm playing yet it’s still quite versatile when the tone and volume controls are used wisely.
The original low yet wide frets still have plenty of life left and perform great. The guitar wasn’t routed and has its original electronics but the vibrato is a reissue part and the guitar was french polished over the original finish by the previous owner, I presume to prevent the finish from wearing out. When we got the guitar it had Schaller tuners fitted, but we've replaced these with aged 3-on-a-plate Kluson repro tuners.
