John Weissenrieder / Satinwood Simplicio / Guitar For Sale
Francisco Simplicio (1874-1932) was the only disciple of E. Garcia and continued in his workshop after his masters death. Simplicio added his creativity and expertise in inlaying to the lutherie of Garcia, producing some of the most striking examples of the classic guitar as art, with elaborate double and triple mosaic rosettes and bindings, and bas-relief carved ebony head plates. The guitars I build are faithfull replicas of actual Simplicio guitars. Sonorically they are nearly identical to the garcia guitars, built on the same form, with the same internal and external structures.
JW Lutherie, Italy
John Weissenrieder was born in pennsylvania, USA, in 1964. After his university studies and a 12 year career as a top professional cyclist, he dedicated himself to lutherie, combining cultivated love of wood and working with his hands with a passion for music. Shortly therafter, in 1998, his formal studies began in the workshop of great guitar maker, Andrea Tacchi, in Florence, Italy. During his apprenticeship he studied intensvely to the works of Enrique Garcia, Francesco Simplicio and Robert Bouchet, traveling to Spain and France with the scope of investigating more deeply into the works of past masters. John Weissenrieder constructs instruments in his own atelier in Florence, in the style of these luthiers and in a personal style paying maximum attention to selection of wood and other materials. He uses a discerning combonation of traditional and modern working methods and techniques, producing guitars of optimum sonoric and aesthestic qualities.
