Manndolins / Two Point Carved Back / Stringed Instrument For Sale
Currently I am focusing on three styles of acoustic mandolins, the A-7, the F-7 and the Two Point. These all incorporate my "neck-thru" (patent pending) construction technique. While at first glance most people think.......how can that thang sound right when it has that big hunk o' wood goin' through the body? Well...The body is actually hollow and carved just like any other fine arched top/back instrument. I start with a neck profiled like this ...(click on photos to enlarge)....DSC00064.JPG (13331 bytes)........then add "wings" to the neck. Here is a shot of an F-7 back/neck..............DSC00065.JPG (33077 bytes).........rough carved.
Then I attach the rim, then top. This method makes a sleek look to the back of the mando, but mainly does away with the "weakest link" of the mandolin, the neck joint. You'll never have to worry about having the neck "reset" because of neck joint failure. Also by making the neck, neck joint and center of the back one continuous piece there is less energy transfer loss than in a bolt on or glued joint. This translates into more tone, more sustain and volume..
