Martin / 0-18T / 1959 / Natural / Guitar

C. F. Martin 0-18T Model Flat Top Tenor Guitar (1959), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 170502, natural lacquer finish, mahogany back and sides, spruce top; mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, black tolex hard shell case.

Overall length is 35 3/4 in. (90.8 cm.), 13 5/8 in. (34.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/16 in. (10.3 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 23 in. (584 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/4 in. (32 mm.). A very nice Martin tenor from 1959, the year the breakout of the Kingston Trio made the 0-18T a hot instrument again! This one has had several old grain cracks repaired, one on the top behind the bridge and a couple on the back south of the center seam. There are four small patched screw holes on the soundhole edge (likely from a pickup) and one on the back of the headstock (the sign of an old "hootnanny" strap button). Currently there is a strap button on the side of the heel, and modern repro (Waverly "Sta-Tite style") tuners. The guitar has had an excellent professional neck set and refret and is one of the best playing Martin tenors we have had, with a very well rounded and punchy sound. Includes a good HSC. Excellent - Condition.
