Martin / 00-18H / 1938 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
This shaded top 00-18H converted to standard (or Spanish) play and it is a crusher. This is the model that inspired Geoff Muldaur's fingerstyle playing and inspired Martin to create the 00-18H Geoff Muldaur signature edition. Here's your chance to own a rare original. The slotted headstock, wide 12-fret neck, and elongated body are holdovers from the 1920s and when converted these specs combine for a responsiveness and tone that fingerpickers love. The conversion includes a new radiused ebony fingerboard with bar frets, a new intonated exact repro ebony bridge, new nut and saddle, and a new correct bridge plate.
There are no cracks and the finish is original throughout. There is a moderate amount of wear from both styles of play and the usual assortment of dings and scratches. As is usual with the 30's Martin shaded tops, the finish is quite thin and the top is very responsive. The neck is big so this is not for the slight of hand but if you love the necks on old Martins and Gibsons, you'll love this one. I have ordered a new Martin 12-fret 00-sized case with the Cabernet interior.
