Musicman / Stingray Bass / 1978 / Sunburst / Bass
Here's yet another smokin' Stingray from the 'Elk vault and any bass player will understand exactly what I mean when I say, "this is a great one"! The neck is straight and has a very nice, medium profile: not too thin but not a ball bat either. The tone is also above par with a great, round bottom and clear and cutting highs that are not harsh. Dial both of the tone controls back and you'll get that world- famous mid range bark that sends Marshall stack players scurrying into a corner. The weight is an incredible 9 lbs, 1 oz, which is virtually unheard of in these 70's Stingrays. Believe me, I've played more than a few sets with a 10+ pounder and as you well know, your shoulder talks to you after one of those long nights. There is the one noticeable ding on the upper face edge, as pictured below. The two bolts that attach the bridge to the bass are like no others I've ever seen, so I have to assume that they are not original and the case obviously has a replaced handle although it's must stronger than the original. Jeez- just look at that thing! If any of you low- enders have any questions, please call Ray because if you ask Lee about a Stingray, he'll walk over to the fish tank in the office to see if there's one in there...
