National / 1155 / 1954 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
Looking for that classic Fifties Gibson J-45 sound at a discount? National made these guitars with bodies purchased from Gibson. This is essentially a J-45 body with a National neck, and yes, it has the sound! The FON number actually dates the body to 1951. Spruce top, mahogany back and sides, one-piece mahogany neck with unbound rosewood fretboard, rare and original light colored pickguard. This is one exellent guitar. It has had a bit of work, but all in the name of playability. The neck on these was a tree trunk; this one was slimmed down to a still chunky but comfortable D. The headstock was also slimmed down slightly to accomodate the Schallers. The sound is all Gibson--warm, blended, with huge bass. The pickup system is an added bonus: it's a Highlander, combined with a Joe Mills interior mic (itself a highly sought after item). Sounds fantastic plugged in. This guitar plays beautifully, with a straight neck and very low action. Just oozes soul. The body is in very good condition, with a good bit of finish wear on back but no cracks. Great guitar. Comes with Hiscox hardshell case.
Kilkenny Vintage Guitars, Ireland
Welcome to Kilkenny Vintage Guitars, Ireland's first guitar shop strictly devoted to high-end used, vintage and reissue guitars. We specialize in Fender, Gibson and Martin guitars, and carry other big names such as Lowden, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, and Guild. Our motto is "all good guitars, all the time," and we stick to it, meaning that we generally do not carry any off shore or low-end models. Since opening in 2005, we've had some beauties pass through the shop, including a couple of early Gibson mandolins, 1930's Dobros, and some fantastic old basses. If you don't see what you're looking for here, please drop us a line, and bookmark this page! We always keep the site up to date with our latest stock.
Here at KVG we strive to bring a variety of quality guitars to the Irish player. For a country full of musicians, Ireland was in serious need of a place where guitarists could go to play and purchase vintage guitars. Previously guitarists seeking high-end goods had to either go to Dublin and pay top retail prices or fly to London. Now you can come down to Thomastown, where you'll find walls full of Fenders, Gibsons, and not much else! We at KVG strive to provide value for money. While our guitars aren't cheap, you'll find that our prices are very competitive compared to the international dealer market, other shops in Ireland, and even the Buy and Sell. So if you're looking for a Les Paul, Tele or Strat, don't buy new! Come to Kilkenny Vintage Guitars, and get the best deal in Ireland.
