If you're looking for more than 6 strings but don't feel like dropping a few thousand bucks, this SE Custom 24 7 String is the way to go. It has all of the extra low end you need, and it was built to PRS's exacting standards. The versatility of this guitar is impressive - it can handle your typical super-crunch, extra low-end metal, but it can also handle the jazzy end of 7 string playing when. The neck is very comfortable despite the bigger size, so players transitioning to 7 strings won't have much trouble. If you're tired of being limited in the low end, this guitar needs to be on your radar. Item Details Finished in Royal Blue, this SE Custom 24 7 String features a mahogany body with a beveled maple top and flame maple veneer. The shape is essentially just a slightly bigger Custom 24, so it's very comfortable. The maple neck is PRS's Wide Thin shape. It's comfortable enough that you won't have trouble getting around, even with the extra string. The rosewood fretboard has 24 frets and bird inlays. A string-thru-body bridge makes for increased sustain and easy string changes. Electronically, there's a SE HFS in the bridge and a SE Vintage Bass in the neck. They're designed to mirror the Maryland-made pickups of the same name. The push/pull tone knob and three-way blade switch gives you plenty of tonal options. Whether you need extra bass notes to walk or more low end crunch, you'll have a tough time finding a better 7 string at a lower price.
