Lee walked into the office this morning and said four words: "Oh no you didn't". I knew what that meant because after I detailed and restrung this Thunderbass, I just had to try it out. In a word- monstrous. After playing it for a good minute, I placed it on the guitar stand next to my desk, which is reserved strictly for my favorite bass at that moment. I previously had an older Vigier Passion 4 there, but it's being tended to and so with the stand empty, there sat this Thunderbass and the sole reason my business partner's eyes were bugged out of his head. In any case, I run the bass department here at the 'Elk, so the big guy might get clipped in the knees if he fusses too much.... My immediate feelings about this bass are that the Cocobola top adds a nice, round voicing to the low end of it's tone and the Maple body, combined with an awesomely figured Ebony fretboard provide superb sustain and attack. Simply put, this is one exceptional bass and to buy one new would set you back around the $4200.00 mark. The package includes the wax, cleaning and care cloths along with the trussrod adjusting tool and straplocks, so you are getting everything you need to make this a "lasts a lifetime" instrument. There is no playwear on the bass and the frets look like new with just a little shining on the first couple of frets- truth be told, it looks like the bass has rarely been played in the last 11 years. I was excited to find it and when I really got to look at the condition and check out the tone and feel, I was sold.
