Reitz Guitars / Gypsy Man / Natural / Guitar For Sale
Based on a thirties Selmer Maccaferri. The Maccaferri guitar was and is used especially for gypsy jazz.
It was made really famous by belgian gypsy guitar player Django Reinhardt (1910-1953). I made some modifications in comparison to the original guitar, partly in cooperation with Jens Fuglsang, lead guitar player in Rêve Bohéme, one of the most respected Django orchestras in Denmark.
The neck is a bit slimmer with a more rounded profile, easier to play if you are used to electric and acoustic guitars. Though, you can still get it with its original wider and flatter neck profile.
Further more I have shaped the top braces a bit more delicately, which gives the guitar a better low end.
The bridge is mounted with 2 thumb wheels to facilitate easier height adjustment.
Apart from that the guitar has its well known characteristics: The sound, the bend of the top just behind the bridge, the oval sound hole, the moustache either side of the bridge, the tailpiece and of course the head. You can now get the guitar with the large D-shaped soundhole as well.
The guitar pictured has the old logo, and a non adjustable bridge, new pics later.
