The amp that we emulated was known for it's incredible harmonic content, unmatched touch sensitivity and beautiful tone. That incredibly rare amp is no longer in production and examples of this amplifier fetch upwards of $40,000 in the used market.
High-end boutique amps are generally very preamp tube dependant. Changing the preamp tubes in this type of circuit changes the tone and feel of the amp. We at Retro Channel have eliminated that variable.
We provide the best possible touch-sensitive tube tone with our proprietary solid state chip set and the player can now enjoy a lifetime of consistent high quality performance, with zero maintenance.
The RR1 includes features like:Master Volume Control (obtain the tones you desire at any volume level, even bedroom volumes)A 100 watt power section (for incredible headroom)Effects loopLine out (the amp provides the same performance whether used with or without a cabinet)
~ Beautiful cleans, with chime and definition ~~ Gain with girth, grind and milkshake thick lead tones ~~ Master volume that allows for these tones at any volume ~~ 100 watt output for driving multiple cabinets ~~ Line out that sounds incredible direct with no cabinet ~~ Effects loop ~$975 Retail and made in the USA with a lifetime warranty!
The Details from Lance Keltner:The RR1 is a 100 watt Solid State Amp. Don't let that put you off...it does not sound like one.
Keep in mind that the amp really does produce 100 watts and can literally destroy a 1-12 cabinet, or even blow a 2-12 cabinet if the speakers you are using with the amp are not rated in total at 100 watts or greater...be careful.
For this reason we insist that the amp only be used with 16ohm or 8ohm loads and we will not be held responsible for damage done to the amplifier itself, or speaker damage caused by using the amp at 4ohms. Just don't do it...ok?
The RR1 is a super touch-sensitive amp. If you have not been one to use the volume control on your guitar much in the past, this is definitely the time to start. The RR1 cleans up very well with the volume knob on your guitar. Try cranking up the gain on the RR1, all the way up if you like, and then back the volume knob off on your guitar to 2 or 3. Now play...You should be hearing a significantly cleaner tone, without huge volume loss. This is the beauty of the RR1 circuit. Now crank that puppy back up and enjoy some feedback.
The RR1 has a very simple but useful control function layout. From Left to Right:Input: Obviously this is where we will plug in the guitar, or reach the amp after the last pedal in your signal path.
Bass: Don't be afraid to experiment with your Bass control.
Middle: The Middle control on the amp increases mid-range and also increases gain at higher settings.
Treble: Again...Don't be afraid to play with this control. I suggest that you even try running the treble at higher settings and use your tone control on your guitar to back off the high end that you don't want.
Volume: This is your overall volume and gain control. Crank it up.
Presence: Experiment.
Master: The RR1 Master is like a fader on a recording console. You will notice that the feel of the amp does NOT CHANGE regardless of the level of the Master Volume control. This is one of the most wonderful things about the RR1. You can obtain realistic tube amp feel and tone at ANY VOLUME level.
Rear PanelLine Out: Use the line out to go direct to a mixing console.
Resonance: Fine tune the amp to work with your cabinet of choice.
Speaker Output: Use a 16ohm or 8ohm cabinet only. I think 8 sounds best.
FX Send and Return: Use your favorite pedals or line level gear.SERVICE:The RR1 comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Please contact Retro Channel at 877-983-8988 if you have any issues or concerns and we will direct you to the nearest authorized service center.
There are NO USER SERVICEABLE parts in the amp. If you open the potted module in the amplifier your warranty is void. What does this mean?It means that since we are the only people who make the potted module, that the only way to get a replacement module, is if your amp arrives for service with a module that is intact. Don't open the module. We are hopeful that service will not be an issue, but if it is...let us handle it for you, K?
Don'ts:Please don't submerge your amp in water. Retro Channel will not take responsibility for your safety and your amp will never function again.
Don't use your amp at voltages that are not approved. Currently the amp is pre-wired for USA voltage and can be used in the EU by simply flipping the switch on the back of the amp to the EU voltage setting. If you are a customer from Japan or Australia your amp should be pre-wired for your country's correct voltage.
Please use your amp with only 16ohm loads or 8ohm loads. Do NOT use the amp at 4ohms.

We believe that the BEGINNERbeginner is the life-blood of the music industry. The beginner gets treated with special attention when looking for his-her first instrument. The larger JobFactory AG company, dedicated to helping jobless young people get the training they need to enter the workforce, has shown its dedication to the youth of Basel, and the JFM continues this mission. We encourage parents when looking for their childrens first music making experiences to visit the JFM and talk with our staff.
The PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN, audiophile, and ‘gear junkie’ is revered and respected here as well. Our staff consists of professional musicians and gear fanatics, always looking to discuss new gear, live sound possibilities and recording techniques with their peers.
Our INVENTORY is without compare here in Basel. We have designed the inventory with variety being the most important factor. Jazz players, metal, blues, indie, folk and classically minded players will all find something that speaks to them. Traditional styles, the strangely shaped, vintage and retro, modern, and contemporary are all represented.
CUSTOMER SERVICE is our number one priority here. If we do not have what you want, we will order it for you! We will do the research, and find the exact right piece of gear for you.
Typical Guitar Store ‘snobby’ attitude, is not welcome here. We have EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE here, but, we do NOT know everything! We are looking to extend our own knowledge as well as transferring it to the customer. We encourage customers to come to our store and relax, have a coffee and cake at our Take-away. Lets talk about gear! Share your knowledge with us.
We are never offended by the customer who is ‘just looking’. Guitars are meant to played. They are not merely things at which to be stared. We like to see a fine instrument in a persons hands, not on the wall.
If you are a fan of FX PEDALS, then welcome to Paradise! We have, without doubt, the best pedal selection in Switzerland. Everything is available for the customer to test, from the basic clean-boost to multi effectors and synth generators.
DRUMMERS are welcome here as well, and will find an extensive inventory of cymbals, skins, hardware and accessories.
We are THE BEST GUITAR SHOP IN TOWN.
We look forward to your visit!
