Wah-wah music units are best known for the wah-wah pedal, which is more commonly used on the electric guitars. Wah-wah units were developed in the 1920’s, for bass at first, although further development allowed guitars and even trombones to slip into the wah-wah category.
Wah-wah is the sound of when musical notes have altered resonance, to express the music further then the original state. The wah-wah effect is a spectral glide, and can still be heard on modern day music. Wah-wah effects generally decreased in popularity after the 1960’s but have been back on the rise again in previous decades, regaining state in more modern day music.
