The Barrybucker A5 Set The new Barrybucker A5 humbucker set with SHORT Alnico 5 rough finish magnets is my hottest sounding PAF style pickup set yet but still staying within the output range of my vintage Fullbucker set. Bridge pickup (approx. 8.60K ohms) and Neck pickup (approx. 7.7K ohms). The shorter A5 magnets will provide a great vintage tone along with longer sustain and more punch. They are ideal for the higher gain player and are also fantastic classic rock pickups as well. These are sure to please any harder rock players and are a favortie of the online community. Like the Fullbucker set the Barrybuckers are assembled with vintage enameled #42 gauge magnetic wire, hardwood maple spacer blocks, nickel/steel base plates and single conductor shielded lead wires. (Four conductor wire leads are also available so you can customize coil selections on each pickup). Did you ever want your guitar to sound better?
I was frustrated by the flat response mine had. I went through a lot of name brand pickups which got to be expensive.
Several years ago, I purchased a used guitar that had come with one dead pickup. I decided to dissect it to see if I could repair it. After constructing a simple winder, I had it rewound and working. Everyone that heard the guitar commented how good that pickup sounded.
I then discovered and researched the basics about hand winding pickups.
When pickup construction is automated, the thin magnetic wire is wound around the bobbin very uniformly, similar to the appearance of a brand new spool of sewing thread. The pickup then inherits a somewhat lifeless, sterile sounding property that one is unaware of until you A/B it with a properly hand-wound pickup.
The hand-wound, non-uniform, wire layering technique known as scatter-winding affects the musical characteristics of the pickup, submitting itself to a broader spectrum of frequencies and harmonics.

About Me
I am a native New Yorker and together with my wife, relocated to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1995. We purchased a new house, and in 1999 were blessed with a beautiful son.
I started fiddling with guitars in 1972 and today I build, repair them and have about 23 in my collection. I maintain all of my guitars, some of which are newer originals and some are older vintage ones. I've improved six of them by installing my own pickups and am very satisfied with their tone. I consider myself fortunate to have the knowledge and ability to build custom pickups.
I have been in the technical field of commercial aviation since 1983 and apply this professional discipline and experience to my customers needs. I have the capabilities to custom-build a guitar pickup to meet your specific requirements.
