C. F. Martin & Co / D-28 / 1972 / Natural / Guitar For Sale
Now available on consignment, a 1972 Martin D-28.
This is quite an enjoyable vintage Martin D-28 featuring all the hallmarks of an early 70’s D-28; the Ebony bridge and board, Indian Rosewood back & sides, Grover Rotomatics, and Sitka Spruce top.
Aside from the edges of the pickguard curling up, a not uncommon occurrence at this period, the only cosmetic or mechanical issues with this instrument is the slight fogging appearing on the finish, the cause of this is yet unknown, but a gentle wipe with a soft cloth dissipates it. As well as this, it appears at some point it has been slightly dropped on its endpin, as there is a small amount of finish crazing around the strip of binding surrounding the endpin. Otherwise the only modification is a well executed refret at some point that shows little play wear.
All in all this is a very clean guitar, it doesn’t seem like it’s had much use in it’s life, though there is a little light buckle rash on the back, the rest of the body and neck are very clean, it plays cleanly, loudly, and with the distinctive Martin piano-like tone which makes these guitars so desirable.
Includes its original Martin hard case.
