Chris Larkin / ASAD / 1993 / Black / Guitar

This exquisite guitar was made by the well known Irish luthier Chris Larkin. This is his ASAD model, but highly specced and build for a musicshow in  1993. Chris called this version of the ASAD the Black Magic woman, and this fine example is the first of only four ever made.

This axe is all about tone and craftman-ship! Chris doesn't use any CNC in the process. All is done by hand. The Black Magic Woman has a beautiful hand-carved top an is build entirely out of genuine Brazilian mahogany. This rare mahogany is very hard to find these days and has a tonal freshness to that today's commercially used mahogany often lacks. Acoustically the guitar is already very responsive and loud, with a clean articulate quality to it. The fretboard is made of pitch-black high quality ebony and all the hardware is from Schaller. The neck is glued for Les Paul-like sustain and great access to the upper fret's. 25" scale-lenght and nice flat radius. (about 16" I guess..)

The pickup's are custom made handwound by Kent Armstrong especially for this guitar. The alnico humbuckers have a PAF-like sparkle to it, while the single-coil adds even more transparency a little bell-like tone to it. The 5 way rotary-switch and additional coiltap make it super versatile and each individual sound is very useable. The sound is very balanced and clear, with a nice bottom-end, no muddiness at all, and tremendous midrange and fresh upper highs. It sounds and plays magnificent. Great tones for jazz , fusion, prog-rock or what ever kind of music that needs an articulate clean tone and versatility.

This is a very special guitar that will be very much appreciated by the guitar connaisseur how is looking for uncompromised tone, playability and craftsmanship. Just a few small dents and a little bucklerash, but overall in very good condition and a great stylish out of the box look! Come with a new Fender Gigbag.
