Collings / 290 Lefty / 2000's / Guitar

You can't visit the Collings shop in the outskirts of Austin without traveling through the Texas hill country on Highway 290. Named after this highway, the 290 boasts amazing versatility in it's tonal spectrum. Fit with two hand-wound P90 pickups from Jason Lollar, the 290 is a modern day tribute to the original working man's rock'n roll guitar.

Collings is known for their nearly-legendary build quality, and the 290’s noticeably crisp edges and jewel-like fretwork are no exception. The 290 retains a distinctive look without the need for binding or abalone. Tasteful is the word here, and subtle touches like ivoroid dot fingerboard inlays and tuner buttons, coupled with a mother of pearl Collings logo on the headstock, offer more than enough flash for a machine this focused on function. The East Indian rosewood fingerboard isn’t afraid to show some grain either, adding to the guitar’s classy, yet stripped down vibe.
