Dallas / Original Rangemaster MINT + Guarantee Card / 1966 / Grey / Effect

Now, this is something that does not come along every day!

Original circa 1966, John E Dallas & Sons Ltd, Rangemaster Treble Boost, gain distortion device in MINT condition and get this - with original serial numbered guarantee card. Phew..!

This is an all original mid 60's original unit that has been converted to a normal PP3 type battery aeons ago. Unfortunately within a few months of the original Rangemaster's release the battery it was designed for (Vidor VD-4) became obsolete so all of these have had this conversion done otherwise you would never be able to use them.

This one I think is the finest one available on the planet right now and is in mint condition aside from a small area of zinc plating corrosion on the chassis and a minute amount of discolouration along the edge. I have photographed all of this so take a look, if you cannot see it, that doesn't surprise me as I am just mentioning this for completeness.

Even guarantee card is excellent but does have a couple of stains on it. No rips, tears or creases though.

Original germanium transistor (OC-71) and 20k pot that is said to give it more crunch than the 10k you occasionally see.

How does it sound? I took it to my tech and we plugged it in and yes, it is quite something. controlled crunch with buckets of clarity and we were immediately impressed with this un-assuming unit, in fact quite gob smacked by how good it does actually still sounds in 2016, - 50 years after it came out.

As you are probably aware these were used by and favoured by the likes of Eric Clapton o the ‘Beano’ album, Tony Iommi, Mark Bolan, Brian May and Rory Gallagher.

So what's not to like? OK the price maybe, but try finding another as nice as this one...
