Dearmond / 1100 SUPER CHIEF / 1957 / Chrome / Guitar
A really clean - near mint "Super Chief" from the late '50s or early-to-mid '60s. There is a pencil-written '57 date on the bottom but we don't know if it's the real production date, since all the other dated DeA's we have seen have an ink-stamped date.
It is complete with both mounting systems: the long rod for fixing it at the strings under the bridge in the classic "monkey on a stick" configuration, and the very rare and sought-after short rod conceived to be screwed to the side of the fingerboard extension. The "control box" with volume and tone mini-pots and knobs and "rhythm" switch is also complete and in perfect condition, and so is the rubber-covered connection cable. The chrome plating is perfect everywhere. The box has the typical DeArmond screw-on jack socket. We have seen many of these units converted to regular jack inputs, but this one is absolutely original and the correct cable (not included here) can be easily ordered through eBay.
The sound is great and powerful, the sound-of-choice for the classic jazz player. That's why all the greatest jazz archtop builders like D'Angelico or Guild have never accepted any other type of pickup to electrify their fine acoustic guitars.
We can sell the pickup with the long rod only for 850 euros, or with both rods for 950. We won't sell it with only the short rod.
