Ditson / (Martin 0-28) / 1920 / Guitar

Ultra rare Ditson guitar from around 1920 - most probably built by Martin. It has the Martin 0-28 style and size!

Martin began making guitars for Ditson in 1915. The first guitars were relatively plain and with mahogany back and sides. It was not until 1919 that Brazilian rosewood was used and the instruments got all these fancy decorations.
Ditson is also famous for introducing the dreadnought style guitar, which later became Martins most famous body style.

The top is Adirondack spruce and the back and sides are of Brazilian rosewood with a basic 3 brace configuration on the back and a x-braced top. The neck is of cedar with a distinct yet quite comfortable V shape. The fingerboard is of rosewood as well as the bridge. The tuners are not likely original but came on the guitar and are period correct .
It has very nice inlay works, including the famous Martin heringbone binding.

This guitar is a joy to play ... it has authentic Mojo … you can feel it.
It fingerpicks extremely well and sounds great flatpicked too. It has this cool vintage sound you are looking for.

It has been nicely restored to keep it as original as possible. Additionally it comes with the original case.
