Epiphone / Olympic Double / 1965 / Cherry / Guitar For Sale

Up for sale is a beautiful 1965 Epiphone Olympic Double, crafted at the legendary Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan, during the golden era of American guitar manufacturing. While many of these lightweight rock machines were heavily modified or abused over the decades, this particular instrument has survived in stunning, pristine condition. It is 100% all-original and presents a fantastic opportunity for both collectors and players.
Design and Construction:

  • Body: Solid mahogany. The instrument stands out due to its ultra-lightweight build and ergonomic, slim double-cutaway body shape, which allows effortless access all the way up to the highest frets.
  • Finish: Classic Cherry. The original nitrocellulose lacquer has retained its vibrant red hue, showing only minimal, absolutely charming signs of age with no significant dings or scratches.
  • Neck: Set mahogany neck with a comfortable profile that feels great in the hand, instantly providing that familiar mid-60s playing feel.
  • Fretboard: Dark, high-quality rosewood with classic dot inlays and beautifully preserved original frets.

Electronics and Hardware:
This model remains in unmolested factory condition—a true rarity for an instrument that is over 60 years old:

  • Pickups: Two original single-coil pickups. In this "Double" configuration, the Olympic delivers a wide sonic palette. These pickups are renowned for their chimey, punchy character, offering excellent dynamics and clarity that cut perfectly through any mix.
  • Wiring: The entire electronics assembly, including the potentiometers and capacitors, is completely original. All factory solder joints are untouched.
  • Hardware: Original Epiphone vibrato system, original bridge, period-correct control knobs, and the original tuners, which operate smoothly and reliably.

Condition and Playability:
The guitar is in excellent, collector's grade condition. It has been treated like a treasure for decades, showing no cracks, breaks, or modifications whatsoever. Thanks to its lightweight nature and a professional setup, the playability is outstanding. It features low, comfortable action and a highly resonant, immediate acoustic response.
The guitar will be packed professionally and shipped safely. For more high-resolution pictures and our full inventory of selected vintage instruments, please visit Oysterguitars.de.
