Epiphone / Riviera / 1965 / Sunburst / Guitar

Here is one of the best kept secrets of the vintage guitar world and is still a very much bargain buy. If ever you were looking for a vintage sleeper this this would be high on our recommendations…

This is a 1965 Epiphone Riviera with all the desirable 1964 characteristics like the wide nut (43mm) and all nickel plated hardware.

For those who do not know this model, it is basically a semi hollow Epiphone, very close to the Gibson ES-335 but with the longer, Epiphone headstock and Epiphone’s classic mini humbuckers.

This particular one was owned and loved by mostly one person who used it all his life in the UK (photos will be provided) and even wrote a song about it and there are a few YouTube videos of him playing it on-line.

It is all original aside from the switch which was broken beyond reasonable repair when we got it so we replaced this with a period correct Switchcraft 3 way, the old broken one will be included. The nickel hardware is in excellent condition, the original tailpiece has not broken and both pickups are working well with an excellent balance.

It is in very nice condition, it shows signs of being played but also very much loved and it is apparent that the previous owner took great care of this instrument. There are a few minor dings here and there but as you can see from the pics, nothing major at all. Even the frets are in good shape and it does not need a refret.

The original Royal Tan Epiphone finish is in great shape and totally original with no touch ups or repairs anywhere and all together this looks and sounds like a very cool package.

Basically, a 64 spec ES-335 with min humbuckers at a bargain price - what is not to like here…?
