The Epiphone Wilshire solid body electric was invented in 1959 having a slab sided body & was quite heavy. In 1960-1 the newer contoured body Wilshire became a lighter weight alternative to the heavyweight earlier model. This Wilshire started out as their Top level model w/2 P-90 pickups that’s became a favorite of players worldwide. This example is the 1st of the best ones from early 1962. Its deep rich see-thru Red finish is still very vibrant as most fade badly…this is what its all about. Its 1 piece mahogany body & wide neck feel delicious w/very little fade from much play time. Its loaded w/2 super powerful Black P-90 pickups that all guitar players need in at least 1 of their arsenal of guitars. Its factory single layer Tortoiseshell pickgard is ultra clean w/its “E” logo still in place, yet shows a few tiny areas just starting to crystalize. She has her original pots dated to 1962 w/4 cool black chrome capped knobs. Its all nickel hardware is slightly faded a bit as expected. Its Tun-a-matic bridge & Stop Tailpiece are nice & clean. It’s still sporting its original minty Kluson Deluxe tuners w/plastic buttons. This is a great guitar for that guy that wants to enjoy it for the next 58 years ! Its featherweight w/killer sustain & tone qualities.
