Fender / Jaguar / 1963 / Lake Placid Blue / Guitar

A genuine 1963 Fender Jaguar in original (albeit somewhat battered) case. This example is a great guitar, it has that essential pre CBS vintage feel that can really only be had from the real thing. This guitar was owned by a well known customer of ours for the last fifteen years. It had been stripped to natural when he bought it but he could see the original paint in the cavities so has had an extremely good cellulose refinish done in a very very convincing lake placid blue. The finish has been 'relic'd' slightly and has also had some genuine wear. It does look very authentic. A superb paint job. In fact, on first view you wouldn't know it was a refinish unless I told you. The original mutes are on the guitar, but typically for a Jag of this age the soft material has since perished. The original laminated board is a lovely rich dark rosewood, probably Brazillian from this era.

In terms of originality the guitar retains all the original pickups and hardware. It has been refretted at some stage in it's life, a good job and there is plenty of fret life left. Because the headstock is painted the logo is a replacement, this was done as part of the re finish. It's a very close reproduction, when compared to an actual Fender logo it looks for the most part,  identical.

In terms of playablity and sound, you can see just why this guitar has been played throughout it's lifetime. It has a lovley vibe to it, a great tone and is a joy to play.

Examples of these in their original paint finish will cost upwards of £6k today. This example is for sale at a little more than you'd pay for a heavy Relic Custom Shop limited edition. Supplied in the original case which alone is probably worth a few hundred pounds.
