Now available on consignment, an original 1963 Fender Jazz Bass with a body only refinish in 3-tone sunburst.
This example has been in Australia for some time, being all original with exception of a professional body refinish from 20 years ago in sunburst. This early '63 still has a nicely grained brazillian rosewood fingerboard with clay dots, and a January neck date. This lines up with the 3x original stackpole pots dating to the 20th week of 1963.
All of the original parts remain including both the pickup and bridge cover. The original tortoisehell pickguard has no cracks, and the rest of the hardware is correct for '63 including the bridge, tuners, screws, bridge plate and strap buttons. The original neck finish and decal remain, with some very light clear overspray over the front of the headstock (hard to spot).
The original frets are low, but playable up and down the neck with a fairly low action.
A really great sounding original pre-CBS Fender Jazz Bass, includes its original brown tolex case in functional condition (broken latch), and original mutes.
