Fender / Jazz Bass / 1964 / Olympic White / Bass

How do you stand out from the crowd? With a 1964 Fender Jazz Bass in Olympic White with a matching headstock of course…

This bass really looks the part. The clear coat has yellowed with time and it’s covered in battle scars but there seems to be a swagger about it. Time has been kind to this bass and even though its certainly been used, there is no signs of abuse.

The tortoiseshell pick guard has warped a little and there’s a tip missing from the lower horn but that is to be expected. Apart from the broken tip there are no other points where the guard has cracked which is nice to see. The hardware is in wonderful shape. The control plate, bridge and covers are all very shiny with only a little corrosion on the saddles.

Electronically everything is as it should be. The black bottom pickups look undisturbed as do the solder joints in the control cavity. The pots are dated week 22 of 1964. The finish on the neck has worn wonderfully but the fretboard and frets are very well preserved with plenty of life left in both. The matching olympic white headstock is in great shape too with the yellowing being the only sign of wear.

The bass comes with its correct White Tolex hardshell case which in itself is very special as these were only available for a short time between 1963 and early 1964.

This bass does the thing that you want when it comes to tone. The neck is smooth whilst the bridge brings that growl thats so synonymous with the instrument. The ability to combine the two in varying degrees really makes you question why you’d need any other bass.

A custom colour Fender from 1964 is really a no-brainer and when one comes along like this one it has to be a players dream. Don’t let it get away.
