Fender / Jazz Bass / 1965 / Sonic Blue / Bass

Gorgeous, very rare and all original L series Fender Jazz Bass in factory original Sonic Blue with matching headstock. I bet you'll be searching  for a while before you find another...

Neck is the more desirable '64 spec neck with dot inlays and no binding, serial number is L series which many consider pre-CBS. It plays real well with a deep versatile tone and all solder joints are totally original and intact.

Factory original, rare sonic blue nitro finish - no touch ups, no over spray, no funny business anywhere, just pure rare, sonic blueness delight, including the matching headstock face.

Clearcoat has yellowed due to UV exposure which has tuned the majority of the sonic blue a nice, almost surf green hue. The original colour is seen under the pickguard, neck plate and covers where it did not get as much exposure to UV light.

All 3 pots date to 20th week of 1965, neck date is JUNE 65 and serial number is L 89332. Both original pickups are grey bottom with a smudged pencil date mark and not one solder joint has been disturbed anywhere - a pretty cool find and just what you want to see on a rare custom colour 60's Fender.

Original frets play well with a bit of wear but still perfectly playable. Nice action, with plenty of room for it to go down even further. Neck is dead straight and it has no truss rod issues. In fact if your intention is to play this, you will not be disappointed at all and as you can clearly see from the pictures, this has been played and not stashed away in a museum.

There are dings and dongs all over and an area of buckle rash on the back. The back of the neck is lovely and smooth which is all down to natural wear.

This bass has a great feel, brilliant sound and is as rare as they come. At this price, probably a pretty decent investment too!
