Fender / Jazz Bass / 1978 / Black Polyester / Bass

Fender Jazz Bass Model Solid Body Electric Bass Guitar (1978), made in Fullerton, California, serial # S843826, black polyester finish, Ash Body, Maple Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, original black hard shell case.

A cool and slightly badass-looking Fender Jazz Bass from the late '70's with a black body and pickguard and a rosewood fingerboard, a fairly unusual combination of features. Close examination reveals that this bass has a factory black finish applied over a blonde-finished ash body…not overly unusual on a '70's Fender. A funk machine from a funky era, now 35+ years old.

Overall length is 45 1/2 in. (115.6 cm.), 13 7/8 in. (35.2 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 3/4 in. (4.4 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 34 in. (864 mm.). Width of nut is 1 1/2 in. (38 mm.). Very nice overall, all original finish and hardware including both chrome pickup covers. A few kicks, dings and rubbed-through areas, no damage or repairs. Not the lightest of Jazz Basses but a very good player with the typically bright '70's sound. Includes the original HSC. Excellent Condition.
