Here we have one of those vintage guitars where if you’re not first you are indefinitely last.  This piece comes to us indirectly from a VIP’s personal collection.

This is a 1962 Fender Jazzmaster, finished in rare and very hard to find Burgundy Mist Metallic with the expected Desert Sand base-coat.  What makes this piece particularly rare is that it was built during the finite window spanning from around March to June 1962; such that it features a matching headstock combined with a Brazilian rosewood slab board fingerboard.  In our opinion, this is the true golden era for Fender musical instruments that feature a rosewood board. 

This piece is 100% original, it has no breaks, modifications or repairs and it is in spectacular condition.  It comes complete with a good amount of original case candy; instruction manual, pic pouch, bridge cover, tremolo arm, strings, polish cloth and of course original brown tolex case. 

Internally it features Stackpole branded pots dating to the 18^th and 19th week of 1961, original soldering throughout and original pickup windings.  The neck dates to May 1962 and is equipped with the usual B width neck profile.  Both pickup readings are strong and well-balanced at around 8.5.  There is only a small amount of finish checking starting to form on the front of the body and a few tiny imperfections in the finish; with that being said it is rather stunning and a solid 9.5 / 10; it is a true masterpiece.  There is no touch-up whatsoever and the frets and nut are original and free from any playing issues.
