Fender / Jazzmaster / 1965 / Candy Apple Red GOLD Hardware / Guitar

Here’s something a little special. A 1965 Fender Jazzmaster with factory gold hardware in custom colour Candy Apple Red with matching headstock and original hard case. Not something we come across on a daily basis…

It is in good but played condition and has its fair share of dings, dongs and marks but is sound, has a cool vibe and plays well with good strong, chimey and balanced pickups.

All original finish is checked all over, but is lasting up fine and is a nice strong colour with minimal fading and some edge wear exposing the silver undercoat in places. There is wear on the gold parts which is to be expected but even these are not too bad and still have a fair bit of goldness still attached to them.

Original or correct hardware, all factory gold plated and yes, even the truss rod nut has tiny flecks of gold still just about clinging on but you have to look real close through a magnifying glass. All screws are original gold too and the pickguard is a tortoise guard. They did do custom colour Jazzmasters with tortoise guards, you will find some in the original catalogues and you will find a few crop up if you do a search. They are fairly rare but we have no reason to believe this is not the original guard.

All original electrics have pots dated 51st week of 1964 and pickups dated 10-65, there are no disturbed solder joints here, the only solder joint we can see that has been reheated is one of the ground wires to the metal foil, probably broke off when pickguard was removed for a previous examination as it is difficult to see under there with thew ground wires so tight.

Pickguard has shrunk somewhat and is lifting at the bridge but is not causing a problem at the moment and is unlikely to shrink much further. Guitar has had a re-fret with slightly larger frets than what was on there before and it plays very well because of this. Correct 1965 case is included with most of the logo still intact. There is no trem arm or bridge cover.

Rare to see these gold Jazzmasters and we think this particular combination looks awesome. It was probably a custom ordered JM at the time and would have more than likely had a hefty price hike over the Jazzmaster. Come down and ply it, we are sure you will like it…
