Fender / Mustang / 1972 / Sunburst / Guitar

The Fender Mustang was added to the Fender program in 1964 and was aimed at starting and intermediate guitar players. The model evolved from the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic student models and had a similar body shape, short 22.5” or 24” scale length neck and pickup(s). With the addition of a newly designed vibrato system the Mustang was born.

This 1972 Fender Mustang is 100% original. The neck is quite full for a Mustang and adds to the solid feel and tight sound of this guitar. The low weight poplar body has a nicely matched grain that looks great under the typical ’70s sunburst polyurethane finish. The frets are a bit worn but have plenty of life left for at least one levelling job if needed. When we got the gutar the neck pickup sounded weak and eventually quit working, we had it rewound to its original specifications and it sounds great again.

A brown '80s Mustang case (non original) is included. The vibrato bar is missing but the vibrato system can be operated without it by palm, or it can be replaced with a reissue bar.
