Fender / Precision Bass / 1955 / See-Thru Blonde / Bass

This is a very special early example of Fender’s 1st of the contour body P Basses that came just after Leo’s most famous 1st design that had a Slab type body…the new 1954-5 Precision Bass. This 2nd series beauty wears the newer smoother “Contour” Body type & is built bearing serial # 7111 on its back plate. This is from the famous Sandy Bodecker’s Bass Collection in Portland, Oregon over the last 2-3 decades. I also believe we had owned this very bass nearly 30 years ago & I discovered it locally here in South Florida. I went to by a Carlo Robelli Mandolin for $400. & this Bass was sitting open in its case next to their stairway & certainly not for sale…I did not leave w/out her LOL. Its original “White” Blonde finished grainy Ash body is beautiful, super clean & unfaded albeit 1 small quarter size rash on its back side. Its also clearly pencil dated 6/55 in its neck pocket. Its Maple neck is still sporting its original frets & logo is also pencil dated 6-55. Its original tuners have the early shorter rounded shafts. Its clean Black Bakelite pickgard is in great original shape showing normal commensurate wear. Its single coil pickup has a frickin magical tone like no other. Its got a set of the earliest type “Dome” vol. & tone Knobs w/a set of smooth back pots having pot codes dated to the 11th week of 1955. This is also a rare Bass as this has 2 factory serial #’s as many original “Patent Pending” bridges were stamped as Fender transitioned to moving serial #’s to its back plates, this one is engraved # 0595 & is still utilizing its original 1st type pair of pot metal Saddles. It’s dead original in all respects. Its 1 of the cleanest original Black’gard Blondes we’ve seen over the last 30+ years. She plays perfect & is ready for its next caretaker. Featherweight at only 8 lbs. 6 oz. incl. its 2 chrome covers but to find one this clean & this light is impossible. It is truly Near Mint & it comes complete w/its original very early “Center Pocket” Tweed Case w/”no” center neck rest.
